Sunday
Psalm 73

In yesterday’s reading, Peter recounted his experience at the Mount of Transfiguration. Psalm 73 could be titled “The Transfiguration of Asaph.” At the beginning of the chapter, it seems as if Asaph (the author of this psalm) is trying to talk himself out of his faith. In the end, God wins, and we see Asaph transform before our eyes.

This psalm should be a beacon of hope to all who feel they are beyond God’s reach. If you think of your heart/mind like a garden, then what do you need to grow? You need the right nutrients—God’s Word seeded in your heart. You need good and steady sunlight—real honesty and accountability. Rhythms of sun, rain, wind, and darkness are essential—a mix of worship, times of busyness and rest, yes, even fun. These are needed to maintain spiritual health and focus.
