Matthew 10:7-8
God is at work in our world, in our community, and in our lives. The power of God’s Spirit enables us as Christ-followers to carry out his will. God’s kingdom requires us as Christ-followers to be citizens responsible to our earthly government while insisting our first loyalty is to the God who redeemed us. We show respect to our elected government, but we need not fear them. They are also subject to God’s authority and will govern best when they govern according to God’s will. We can best serve our leaders when we encourage them to do this.
