Ecclesiastes 4:13-14
Solomon looked at his life—the power God had given him. He concluded power and influence are also meaningless. Solomon said it’s better to be an impoverished nobody who possesses wisdom, than a rich, powerful somebody who is a fool.
Billionaire Steve Jobs is quoted as saying, “Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me.” Though it doesn’t appear he was a Christ-follower, Steve Jobs is right. Power, wealth, and influence mean nothing after our death.
Are you living life for the wealth, power, and influence you can attain? Or do you value wise living? Meaning and purpose are found in the latter.
