Proverbs 31:13-15
There are days the Proverbs 31 Woman and her pristine example can loom large over wives and mothers everywhere. Mothers may even be tempted to throw in their “proverbial distaff” (the spindle used for spinning yarn). Realizing we all are works in progress, we can be encouraged to allow the light of God’s Word to guide the way forward. Today’s reading tells us the Proverbs 31 Woman works hard. This passage infers that she often works alone, but she’s still eager. As a result, her family and others she cares for are well-fed and nurtured. Matthew Henry writes,
“She takes pains in her duties and takes pleasure in them. She is careful to fill up time, that none be lost. She rises early.” Matthew Henry’s Bible Commentary
Married or single, moms with children, or those who mother apart from biology, ALL can benefit from emulating the life of the Proverbs 31 Woman.
