Acts 2:46-47
When we continuously live generously as a Christ-centered people, the world around us begins to take notice. Look at the four key things the early church did together as a community. They were devoted to “the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (2:42). They did this each and every day. Not a one-time deal. Not just once a week. They did it every day. Together. As a community. As a result, it had a dramatic effect on everyone they encountered. When one person lives this way, people are curious as to why they do so. When a community of people lives this way, outsiders are almost compelled to check out what the deal is. As a result, Scripture says they had “favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved” (2:47). They had favor with ALL people and everyday people were coming to know Christ as a result of God working through their generous Christ-centered community.
