Wednesday
Ecclesiastes 4:7-8

Solomon again looks to the human condition. This time, he sees loneliness. Solomon’s case in point is a workaholic with no family, no end to his work, and no contentment. In essence, the man is the definition of miserable. In isolation from friends and family, the man asks himself why he’s doing what he is and why he’s waiting to enjoy the good things he has.

At some point, everyone’s job is just a job. And work is, well, work. On the other hand, however, for those who follow Christ, anything we do can be done to the glory of God. What about you? Is your motivation a promotion? Do you work hard just to be able to give good things to your family? Is your work the reason you are isolated from your friends and family? Lay your work and your motivation for work before the Lord. Ask God to give you balance.
