Colossians 4:14, 2 Timothy 4:11, Proverbs 17:17
“A friend who understands your tears is much more valuable than a lot of friends who only know your smile.” (Unknown) A fair-weather friend is defined as a person who stops being a friend in times of difficulty. Luke was not a fair-weather friend to Paul, for he was with Paul when no one else was. If Luke had been Job’s friend, he would have been right there with him on the ash heap.
Are you a true friend? Or do you flee at the first sign of trouble? Luke could have easily and quite logically bailed when Paul was arrested, but he did not. He stayed. That is beyond generous!
