Friday
Ecclesiastes 11:9-10

In the Bible study group I teach, I ask this question (or a form of it) a couple of times each year: “How do you want to be remembered when you’re gone?”

Thinking about the end of your life is a good exercise because it also forces you to think about your life now. How are you living now that is going to make some kind of lasting impact?

Let’s use our church’s new children’s building as an illustration. The building didn’t just “happen” on its own. The architect had a vision about what the building would look like before even a shovel of dirt was ever moved.

When you think about your life as a “finished project,” it helps you plan what you will do today to get to that goal. The choices you make today either lead to an outcome (positive) or to a consequence (negative). As Solomon wrote, “Yet know that God will bring you to judgment for all these things.”
