1 Peter 2:4-12, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
The church is not a building. The building serves as a place where we gather to worship. It is also a tool used to reach our surrounding area with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. However, the church is much more than that.
If Christ is the foundation of the church, then we, as followers of Christ, are the building blocks. Peter referred to us a “living stones” for a “spiritual house.” We—the people—are the church, built on the cornerstone of Jesus Christ! As the church, we are “ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us,” to see our community “be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20, NASB).
