1 John 2:18-19

When Jesus arrived on this planet in human form, we essentially entered the “last days” John is referring to in this passage. It was the beginning of God’s redemptive plan. The words of warning about the rise of false teachers came from Christ himself when he spoke in Matthew 24:5, 24. John communicates a common refrain over and over again in his writings celebrating the great advances in the spreading of the Gospel, but recognizing the number of false teachers was growing by the day. If this was so evident to John, shouldn’t it be exponentially more alarming to us today?

What do we do in response to this reality? The answer is simple, but it involves returning to the tests from earlier this week. Do we love the Lord and our neighbor? That has been our command from the start.
