2 John 7-13
One heresy prevalent in the first century was Gnosticism. The Gnostics claimed to have a “special knowledge” about God. John warns us in verse 9 not to “run ahead” of God. In Revelation 22:18, John again warns us against adding anything to the revealed word of God. God has given us, by his Spirit and in his Word, everything we need to know.
