Thursday
Matthew 6:7-13

Right now, as you read this, you are in a battle for glory. It might not feel like it, but you are. We were made to live for the glory of God. Instead, we try to live for our glory. We even fall into this problem when praying. We make our prayer about us instead of God. The Lord’s Prayer reminds us who the focus of our prayers should be. Look at how it all starts. “Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven” (6:9-10). This prayer reminds us of how big God is. However, he is also a gracious and loving Father. He is holy. He is worthy of our worship and surrender. This prayer calls us to surrender our will to his, to stop the pursuit of our glory, and to live for his glory. When we make God the focus of our prayer, we can ask for what follows next in this prayer.
