Friday
Philippians 2:9-11

Think back to your childhood. Do you remember one of your parents asking you to do something you thought was humiliating at the time, like babysitting your younger sibling or having to clean up the trash the dog spread all over the yard? Those are some of my childhood memories.

Think about this: God asked Jesus to give up his place in heaven, with all the privileges as God, to become a man. And even more than that, God asked Jesus to become the final sacrifice for our sin—to die on a cross. And Jesus obeyed. He did what the Father asked. Jesus, who had no sin, became sin so we could be forgiven.

It is because of Jesus’ love and obedience that God exalted his son to the highest place. We owe our life and our salvation to Jesus. Jesus is worthy of surrendering everything we are and everything we have because of what he has done for us.
