Thursday – Luke 18:13
Among many other kinds of prayer described in his book by the same name, Foster lists the Breath Prayer. This short prayer which can be spoken in one breath is one way to “pray without ceasing.” Breath prayers address God in a personal way, express our trust in him, and make a request. Throughout the day, believers can repeat breath prayers until they become a part of the Christ-follower. The Jesus Prayer, in 18:13, is the most famous breath prayer.
Praying Scripture is another way to “pray without ceasing” as well as find power for real life. Short verses of Scripture can be chosen and meditated upon. The first word of the Scripture is prayed and meditated upon. Then the first and second words are prayed and meditated on. Then the first word plus the second, and so on.
You may have never tried Breath Prayer or praying Scripture before. At first, it may seem unnatural and artificial. Eventually, however, it can become a powerful tool in your spiritual life.
