Nehemiah 10:31
The second area of decision was to be faithful to God when it comes to doing business. Under the Old Testament law, God said no one could buy or sell on the Sabbath day. These citizens of Jerusalem had been breaking this law and now they made a covenant with God to obey it. The motive for breaking this law was clear—they could make more money selling 7 days a week instead of just 6. The same is true for us today. We must choose to only make money through ways that bring glory and honor to God. We must pay bills and provide for our families, but we must trust God to take care of us as we are obedient to him. In what ways do we skirt around God’s commands in our work today? How might he want our work to be different?
