Thursday – 1 Timothy 6:17-19
Honor God with your wealth by living generously. We saw last week that the love of money can lead to ruin and destruction (1 Timothy 6:9-10) and we should aim for contentment in what we have been given. If greed is an outflow from the love of money, then an outflow from the blessing of money is generosity. If we are to be good stewards of what has been given to us, then we must look “to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share” (6:18) in what has been given to us. When we realize this, Paul tells us we will be able to “take hold of that which is truly life” (6:19). This lines up with how Jesus answered the rich young man when he asked how to inherit eternal life. What are some ways you can increase your generosity?
