FridayPhilippians 4:4-13
Often, the desire for money grows out of discontentment of a present circumstance. It is the belief that if we had more of it, our current reality would be greatly improved. Discontentment leads us into a comparison game and a desire to “keep up with Joneses.” We feel entitled to have what others have and are jealous when others acquire what we have been unable to acquire ourselves. Take a moment and meditate on today’s verse. The only way out of discontentment is to be content. How do we do that? Look upon that which is more satisfying than anything this world has to offer, including money. Paul encourages us to continually rejoice in the Lord, be reasonable, don’t worry, present our requests to God, rest in his peace, and think on the things that are worthy of praise and put them into practice. Finally, no matter what the circumstance, be content because our hope is in the God who gives us our strength!
