CONNECTED TO THE CHURCH

Matthew 16:18
Our connectedness begins with God and family. It continues with church. Church includes all believers across the world. For most of us, church also identifies the local congregation. Both are correct. All of us belong to the family of God spread all over the world. All of us should be connected to a local congregation, where we serve alongside one another.
The best description of the worldwide church is found in Matthew 16:18. Jesus changed Simon’s name to Peter, which means “rock” or “stone.” Jesus used a word that describes bedrock.
Jesus did not say he would build his church upon the person of Peter, but upon what Peter proclaimed: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” The church is comprised of all who put their faith in Jesus as Lord.
