Tuesday
Luke 24:13

Before Jesus appeared to his disciples on Sunday evening, he visited with two men who were walking to the village of Emmaus (a seven-mile walk from Jerusalem). The discussion was lively in light of all the events that had taken place in the past week.

Jesus feigned ignorance concerning the events leading up to the resurrection. His traveling companions were shocked he was unaware of the “things which have happened here in these days” (24:18).

They shared with Jesus a condensed version of his life and ministry. They did not recognize him until they sat at the table and Jesus “took the bread and blessed it, and breaking it, he began giving it to them” (24:30).

The days after Easter give us an opportunity to see God at work—if we are watching and waiting.
