RULES: WEEK 4—THE HEART BEHIND THE LAW
Monday—Matthew 5:17-20
The Israelites had been living according to the law for centuries. They had created laws around the laws to ensure they did not break them. They found Jesus confusing, threatening, and downright counter to their law. But Jesus, in his own words, says he did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. His law went beyond right and wrong actions, all the way to the condition of the heart. This week, we will look at the ways he expounded upon the law for those who follow him.
