Ecclesiastes 6:7-9

Work Cannot Guarantee Fulfillment
My husband, Shawn, was asked on a work self-evaluation form if his job was a great source of fulfillment that gave his life meaning and purpose. He quickly and honestly replied, “No.” A few weeks later, when he was meeting with his immediate supervisor for his annual evaluation, he was informed that his response to that question raised some concern among upper management.

Shawn searched for words but then quickly realized God had just given him an opportunity to witness to his unsaved boss. He confessed to him that his faith in Jesus was his source of fulfillment and only Jesus gave his life meaning and purpose. He later said that conversation was one of the greatest moments of his professional career.

God calls his children to represent him well in our chosen vocations. If we choose to live what we believe while we’re on the job, he will always help us find fulfillment in whatever we are doing.
