Ecclesiastes 8:9-14

In the real world, bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people. It’s not fair! The writer might as well have quoted our pastor and said, “The fair is in October!”

Here’s my theory. We live in a broken world. Sin has tainted every aspect of life. Like the Butterfly Effect, someone’s seemingly insignificant sin might well cause a hurricane of trouble or heartbreak for you or someone else. Is that your fault? Is that God’s fault? No, it is just how things are in our broken world. It does not change God’s character or his purpose.
