Psalm 136

Happy Thanksgiving! Each of us has so many things for which we are thankful. This psalm is a list of examples of God’s enduring love throughout history (or at least up to the point when the Psalms were written). As we read the refrain “His love endures forever,” we see attributes, promises, miraculous acts, guidance, and provisions of a God who loves us beyond comprehension.

So many of God’s blessings in our lives go unnoticed. As you sit in the stillness, take some time to exercise the gift of noticing. Notice what you see around you. Notice who is with you. Notice how God has provided for you. Notice how he has delivered healing or protection. Notice he has made a way for restoration with him. Once you have made a list of all the gifts you notice, take time to give thanks. Thank him for all of these and for the fact that his love does indeed endure forever!
