Devotions written by B.J. Foster

Monday
Ecclesiastes 12:1

When I was younger, I remember sitting with a mentor of mine. His name was Roland Harvey. He has a heart cultivated by Jesus. It was a blessing to hear godly advice and wisdom from him. One day he told me, “Stay in ministry, B.J., and do not leave it.” This divine direction pierced my inner being like a compass pointing true north. I knew where I was supposed to go and what I was called to do.

Soon after this experience, I tried to leave the direction of ministry and found a very displeasing form of life. However, Roland’s goodness and God’s grace led me back to truth. I recognized the vanity of life without Christ.

Let us all begin this week remembering the only pleasant thing in life is when we are in the midst of obedience to Christ. It is the only way to truly live.
