Ezra 3:10-13
The book of Ezra details the return of the Jewish people to their homeland after being in exile for 70 years in Babylon. God not only orchestrated their release from exile through the pagan rule of Cyrus, but also moved Cyrus to rebuild both the city of Jerusalem and God’s temple. The temple was both a symbol of God’s presence among them and a place for them to worship. Look at their response to God’s faithfulness and deliverance after only laying the foundation: They lifted up shouts and songs so loud they could be heard far away! As we break ground on Sunday, let us lift our voices in praise to God as he continues laying the foundation for his church to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ!
