John 10:11-18

“I am the good shepherd.”

Sheep could not exist without a shepherd. Jesus often refers to us as his sheep, and in today’s passage, his analogy is correct, for we have all gone astray (Isaiah 53:6). An interesting fact about sheep is they will not come to a stranger. However, when they hear their master’s voice, they come running. Our Master, the Good Shepherd, calls to us and we listen to his voice. Jesus not only calls to us, but he ultimately laid down his life for his sheep once and for all on the cross.
