Thursday
Philippians 2:8

Jesus was and is God. He is the second person of the Trinity: God the father (the first person); Jesus the son; and the Holy Spirit (the third person). And yet, they are ONE God. The doctrine of the Trinity is hard to understand and explain. The simplest explanation I was taught is to think of a hard-boiled egg. There is the shell, there is the yolk, and there is the white. Are there three eggs or one egg? The bottom line is there is no simple way to explain the Trinity! Understanding the concept requires faith.

Jesus becoming human is what Christians call “the incarnation.” Jesus became man, taking on a human body, yet he was still God. God sent Jesus to this earth to be the final sacrifice for human sin. We no longer need to bring an animal sacrifice to the temple because Jesus’ blood was shed on the cross for our sin. We confess and repent of our sin, and Jesus “is faithful and just to forgive us of our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him would not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
