1 John 1:5-7

The battle between darkness and light is a recurring theme found throughout life and Scripture. John makes it clear. God is light. Light is God. God is so much like light and light so much like God that the two can’t be separated. And as those who follow him, our life will be marked by light.

John gives two tests to believers to see if they are living in the light. First, the greater the extent we are living in God’s light, the greater our battle against the darkness. John says if we truly walk in the light, we will own and admit the darkness of our sin. Second, John gives the test of fellowship. A byproduct of life in God’s light is fellowship with others. In light of these two tests, to what degree are you walking in the light?
