1 John 1:1-4

Have you ever heard the phrase, “Too heavenly minded to be any earthly good”? This could have been said of John’s audience, specifically the Gnostics. These “philosophers” believed the body was evil and should be separated from the spirit (and spiritual things). As John sought to refute this bad theology, he punctuated his argument with the fact that Jesus—the Word of Life—was experienced by his disciples and others in the body. In Jesus, people had heard, seen, and touched the Word of Life, who was from the beginning. Because they had experienced him in this way, telling others wasn’t an option. Telling others was their life.

What about you? Though none of us has experienced Jesus in the flesh, those of us who have placed faith in Jesus Christ have encountered him in a powerful, life-changing way. If we have truly encountered Christ, telling others about him should no longer be an option. Prayerfully continue to pursue those with whom God is leading you to share the gospel.
