Friday – Ephesians 4:2-6
As we continue to meditate on the role of unity within the community of believers, we discover unity is not something we can form of our own will. In 4:3 we read: “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Unity within the body is something that must be maintained. Christian unity is something that is immediately experienced by all who have put their faith and trust in Christ. So how do we maintain unity? It’s simple—lead one another to Christ. The unity of the Spirit will be produced in us by the Spirit of God. When we walk with the Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit listed in 4:2 (gentleness, patience, and love) are byproducts that help us maintain the unity of the Spirit within our community.
