1 John 3:4-6
Think about the phrase, “break the law.” Once something is broken, it can never be the same. We can try to repair things, make amends, or pay our debt to society, but once we have broken God’s law, we are forevermore sinners. When we break God’s law, we become broken. Each and every one of us has done just that. Is there any hope? Who can save us from this broken world?
Thank God, he sent Jesus to pay our debt and make us new. Jesus doesn’t repair us or put our broken pieces back together. He makes us new creatures (2 Corinthians 5:17). We have his power within to reject a pattern of habitual sin. The Message says it this way: “Sin is not part of his program.” Is it part of yours?
