1 Thessalonians 1:2-4

Paul chose three great ingredients of the Christian life:
1. Work of faith
2. Labor of love
3. Perseverance of hope

A little grammar lesson is appropriate here. Is it work that produces faith? Is it labor that produces love? Is it steadfastness/perseverance that brings about hope?

Or is it faith that inspires good works? Is it love that leads us to carry on? Is it hope that gives us endurance?

It’s the latter. Faith, Love, and Hope enable us to accomplish God’s will. “A person can endure anything so long as he has hope, for then he is walking not to the night, but to the dawn.”
