1 Thessalonians 3:11-13
Paul breaks out in prayer as he writes to the congregation. He prayed for the opportunity to see them again, for their love to abound toward one another, and that they would continue to grow in their relationship with God.
It’s a short prayer but one that sets a framework for all our prayers.
1. Prayer is grounded in God himself and in Jesus the Lord.
2. Prayer that acknowledges the power of God and Jesus is prayer that overflows with confidence. We don’t pray wondering if God is in control. We pray to the God who created all things and knows what is best for us.
3. Prayer has a future reference—the certainty of the coming of Jesus.
