1 Thessalonians 2:3-4
For some reason, Paul was compelled to defend their ministry among the Thessalonians. Traveling philosophers and teachers were common in the first-century world, many of whom exploited gullible people for their own gain.
Paul made a bold assertion—he had been approved by God. The term “approved” translates a word which means to find worthy through testing. Paul’s experiences of persecution and suffering validated his work with the Thessalonians.
