2 Timothy 4:6-18
Paul knew he was nearing the end of his life and ministry; literally, these were his last days. He was imprisoned in a cold dungeon. He wasn’t getting out of prison. Most of his colleagues had left him or he had sent them out into ministry. Only Luke, the physician (who penned the gospel of Luke and the book of Acts), remained. Paul wrote to Timothy, asking him to come visit one more time, as soon as possible, and to bring John Mark, too.
Ministry to people in their last days can be a wonderful thing. Yes, it can be a little frightening if you’ve never done it before. And there are certainly obstacles to overcome in the midst of it. If you embrace it, though, you will enrich the life of the person you visit, and you will sense God’s blessing on your own life as well.
