Matthew 2:13-21
Christmas celebrations are usually filled with thoughts of joy because God came to show and give us his love. But not everyone’s Christmas is filled with joy and love. Not even for Joseph and Mary. After the wise men left, Joseph had to make a sudden emergency move with his family all the way to Egypt. And parents of newborn baby boys in Bethlehem and the surrounding region also experienced great sorrow because of the wicked Herod. If your Christmas season is filled with sorrow or disappointment, remember Jesus came to bring you his peace. He came to be your Wonderful Counselor. He may not immediately take away the hurt, but he will be with you. He loves you and he is on your side. He is the Everlasting Father. He’s got your back. That’s why he came.
