1 Corinthians 15:42-44; 2 Corinthians 4:17-18; Revelation 21:4
Death is just as much a part of life as birth, but so difficult, nonetheless. I’ve always been bothered by the popular sentiment “rest in peace.” Maybe because it is abbreviated R.I.P on creepy gravestone Halloween decorations? Not sure, but it has always brought a cringe reaction out of me. But when I really reflect on the words, it is a beautiful prayer. When we leave this life and are fully alive in Christ, we can truly rest in peace. We cease striving, we cease hurting, and we can finally rest. Our rest is surrounded by and full of nothing short of God’s perfect peace. What we have known in part in this life, we now know in full. Scripture says all will be right, whole, and as it was intended when we are finally home.
