Jesus brings comfort and a sense of wholeness to our times of struggle and suffering. When our world falls apart because of brokenness—loss of life, loss of job, loss of relationship, and other sorts of loss—Jesus puts it back together. He is with us every moment and his very presence fills the chasms of loss to bring us a sense of oneness. This power of God is so difficult to explain and put into words, but if you’ve ever been in crisis, you probably know what I mean. When things don’t make sense and when everything is going wrong, the Prince of Peace settles himself in and around us and calms us, comforts us, and heals us. Jesus is the only one with the power to hold us together.
