Ecclesiastes 1:12-15

Here is more evidence King Solomon is the one speaking these words. The king supposedly has the power to do whatever he wishes, yet even Solomon’s power is not enough to change things.

Three frustrations are described:

1. Man’s inability to harness happiness (1:13)
2. Man’s inability to make things right (1:14-15)
3. Life is shadowed by mystery that cannot be understood (1:16-17)

Solomon had done it all. He had experienced the sensible, wise side of life, and he had known the wild side as well. His conclusion? There was not too much difference between them. Both led nowhere.
