Matthew 16:21-28

The crowds were gathering for Passover in Jerusalem as Jesus made plans for his arrival. He knew the purpose of his trip was greater than the Passover celebration. He was going to the city to die, and through his death, he would conquer death once for all. His disciples could not understand what was ahead, but Jesus gave them the ultimate challenge. Being a disciple of Jesus is more than just mental acceptance of his story (belief). It is taking up our cross and following him.
