Matthew 28:11-15
Matthew tells the chief priests (religious leaders) took decisive action concerning the news of Jesus’ resurrection. They bribed the soldiers who guarded the tomb. The instructed them to say “his disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep” (28:13).
The days after the first Easter remained dangerous. Powers of evil were at work—they still are.
