Matthew 25:41-43

Imprisonment in biblical times was not like it is today. Men and women would not have clothing or food provided for them in those days. Family members or friends of the prisoners would have to meet their basic needs. Providing for the imprisoned person would be a costly venture as travel required time and money; guards often expected bribes to ensure the provisions were given to the prisoner. However, failing to be generous could result in the incarcerated person’s death from malnutrition or inclement weather.

The thought of “If I’m not generous, my loved one will die” would have been very motivating. Do you see the power of your generosity in that way?
