Hebrews 1:1-4
His name shall be called Mighty God. The dictionary defines “mighty” as “possessing great and impressive power or strength, especially on account of size.” What comes to mind when you think of the word “mighty”? I will always stop to watch the World’s Strongest Man competitions when scrolling through channels on the television. From dragging semi-trucks with only a rope tied around their waist to lifting 350-pound boulders onto platforms of various heights, these athletes impressively push the limits of what the human body can do. However, these athletes can never rival the power of God. In Isaiah 9:6, “Mighty God” is translated from the Hebrew term El Gibbor meaning “strong, power, champion, hero.” Isaiah reminds us Jesus is all of these things. There is no one bigger or stronger.
