Ecclesiastes 3:18-22

Here, Solomon sounds like someone who doesn’t know God. I believe he is using this perspective to make a point. From a purely human vantage point, humans are no different than animals. We breathe the same air, we all come from dust, and we will one day return to dust. We cannot know where we go after, so we might as well enjoy our work. This is the perspective of one who is living apart from God. Not a very hopeful place, is it? That’s why we must live from our place of hope, in Christ.
