Mark 2:14-17

Along with the fact Jesus alleged he could forgive sins, he also kept bad company. Case in point: Jesus’ calling of Matthew, a tax collector. In the Pharisee’s minds, any Jew that would take Roman taxes from another Jew should be considered an outcast, unfit to even enter the synagogue.

What about us? Do we share the Gospel and community only with people who look like we do—those with the same values, those who can improve our social standing? If so, like the Pharisees, we need to realign our relational priorities to those of Jesus.
