Tuesday
1 John 5:7-9

Have you ever shared your story of how you experienced the life-changing gift of God’s unconditional love through Jesus Christ? It is the most powerful gift you can share with another person looking for hope.

According to John, there are three things that testify to Jesus the Christ: the Spirit, the water, and the blood.

At Jesus’ baptism came the testimony of the Holy Spirit in the physical form of a dove (Matthew 3:16), and then God’s voice is heard saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17).

Jesus’ crucifixion (and its surrounding events) testify to his divinity as well. During his earthly life, Jesus acknowledged he was the Christ, the Son of God, before the chief priests at his trial (Mark 14:61-62) and before Pilate (John 18:36-37). Many Scriptures were fulfilled at Jesus’ crucifixion (John 19:36) and Jesus’ resurrection is God’s clear seal of authenticity that Jesus is his Risen Son.

The water and blood both represent the external, objective witnesses to the divinity of Christ. The Holy Spirit is the subjective internal witness to Jesus’ divinity. Jesus was and is God’s testimony to us.

Thank God today for his testimony to who Jesus truly is.
