John 21:1-11
Some days after his resurrection, Jesus appeared to his disciples in Galilee. Jesus found them where he first called them to follow him—on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.
21:3 is telling. Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.”
After all that had transpired over the past three years, all Peter could think of to do was to go back to doing what he had done before he met Jesus.
Peter’s confidence waned during the days after Easter. He appears to be bored. Perhaps he wondered what would happen next.
