Prayer has become the cornerstone of the Pastor Search Committee since our very first meeting. We pray when we begin a meeting and we pray when we end. We pray for each other, the pastor we seek, The Slingshot Group, the FBCL staff, and we pray for you.
The Pastor Search Committee in return feels the prayers being lifted for all of us, and we wholeheartedly believe the decisions and progress that have been made so far are due to the prayers being lifted on our behalf. Did you know the students meet weekly with BJ and intentionally pray for us? How can we go wrong if the youth in our Church are lifting us up in prayer weekly? We thank you all for the prayers and please know we feel them.
The purpose of the monthly prayer guide is to join us together as a Church family in prayer through the process of finding a new pastor for FBCL. Last month, Katie shared that the Bible calls us to adore God with our prayers. This month, we remember that the Bible tells what we can ask of God in prayer. Let’s look at a few examples.
WISDOM- Jame 1:5 says, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”
As we seek to find the pastor that will lead our Church, we humbly ask for the wisdom that only The Lord can give.
GOD’S WILL- As the Pastor Search Committee seeks God’s will for the next pastor, we ask you to pray with us. The Bible says: “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good spirit lead me on level ground.” — Psalm 143:10
We desire to learn God’s will for our Church and not rely on our own. Please pray for our discernment as we seek His will.
GUIDANCE- “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5-6
God has a wonderful plan for FBCL, and with His guidance, we pray He will lead us straight to our new pastor. Please pray that we find comfort that God is in control and help us to ask for His guidance.
TO KNOW GOD BETTER- As we go through the process of finding our new pastor, the Pastor Search Committee yearns for a spiritual process that not only leads us to a new pastor but also leads us closer to God himself. Ephesians 1:16 says, “God, give me spiritual wisdom and insight, that I may keep growing in my knowledge of You.”
This month, as you continue to pray with us, consider the ways the bible calls and commands you to pray. Also for the month of December, we humbly ask that you pray for our wonderful staff at FBCL. They are so loved and we want them to feel the support and strength that only our prayers can give.
