I want to give you an update in light of changes announced by our governing authorities that affect our church.
Our governor has enacted a phased reopening of our state. As of Monday, May 18, we entered into Phase 2 of this gradual opening of businesses, etc. Some of the regulations that accompany Phase 2 do not directly affect our church. Two of the directives do affect us. One is we are to practice social distancing. Another is to practice strict sanitizing procedures before and after we use our worship center.
Just these two requirements greatly hinder our efforts to gather in corporate worship.
We will continue to monitor this ever-changing situation. In the meantime, we are slowly opening up rooms for our small groups to meet. And several of our classes circle their vehicles in the parking lot and, while maintaining social distancing, are able to visit face to face.
I know this is not what we want or desire. But I cannot in good conscience suggest we return to “church as we want it” when uncertainty still surrounds us.
So, I ask you to continue to be prayerful during these days. Practice good hygiene. Practice social distancing. And let’s all look forward to the day when we can connect face to face.
