Wow, summer is already in full swing. From Amarillo to Colorado Springs and from Little Rock to Memphis, our Music Ministry is traveling the globe! I am so thankful to say that I am a part of our First Baptist Church Student Choir Ministry. In these past days, we have seen our 94-member Voice of Praise high school choir minister in the Colorado Springs community while our 77-member Priority group took on Memphis! From sports camps to new church starts and from food pantries to VBS, we saw our students sharing the love of Christ with those in need. It is amazing what God can do when we stop, listen, and respond! When 171 people say “Yes” to Jesus phenomenal things can happen and they did! Our VOP mission trip included life-changing stories from missionaries and young pastors. We heard and witnessed how each one of them had experienced God’s amazing grace. And, that grace and wonder was evident in each of our students. We beheld the splendor and awe of God’s creation as we walked through the Garden of the Gods and as we climbed thorny mountains behind our dorms and as we navigated the rough waters of the Arkansas River. I saw our students humble themselves in beautiful ways as they let us others go before them and as they knelt to clean and weed and dig. I saw our students be like Jesus when they talked to total strangers, hugging them and praying with them. I saw our students stir the hearts of people as they sang, smiled, danced, and played their instruments as an act of worship.
I am so very pleased with each of our students, BIONICs, adult chaperones, and the leadership we receive from Missy Iley, Tim Zednick, Ari Voss and Kayla Beall. You are an amazing team! And, a huge thanks to our church family who has supported us through prayers, financial giving, and immense encouragement. I’m glad we’re in this together!
